Prep Report: Triton Central volleyball nets impressive win at Eastern Hancock

Triton Central scored a second consecutive win over a potential sectional opponent Monday with a 25-17, 25-15, 25-12 win at Eastern Hancock.

Lucy May led the Tigers (14-9) with 11 kills. Kate Collier finished with 13 digs and four service aces.

Anna Kemper collected 19 assists.

The Royals dropped to 19-10 this season.

Eastern Hancock won the junior varsity contest, 25-18, 20-25, 15-9.

Triton Central defeated Indianapolis Scecina Thursday in four sets. The Crusaders are the host school for Sectional 43 next week.

The sectional also includes Knightstown and Christel House.

Girls soccer

Whiteland Sectional

Whiteland 2, Shelbyville 0

The host Warriors scored a goal in each half and let its defense keep the Golden Bears in check.

Shelbyville’s final three losses of the season came via shutout. The Golden Bears finished 9-8.

Whiteland improved to 11-5-1 and will face Class 3A, No. 5 Center Grove (11-2-2) in a sectional semifinal match Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Volleyball

Shelbyville def. Southport, 25-12, 25-17, 25-19

At Shelbyville, Jordyn Noe had a team-high nine kills in the loss to the Cardinals.

Chloe Caldwell led Shelbyville (15-9) with 16 digs. Hayden Ricketts followed with 15 digs.

Southport improved to 22-3.

North Decatur def. Southwestern, 25-11, 23-25, 25-12, 25-15

At Southwestern, the Chargers remained unbeaten (6-0) against Mid-Hoosier Conference opponents and improved to 17-8 overall.

North Decatur clinched no worse than a share of the conference title. With a win over Brown County (12-15) tonight, the Chargers would be the outright champions.

Southwestern finished without an MHC win (0-7) this season and fell to 11-18 overall.
