Jace Patterson scored five goals to propel Class A, No. 11 Southwestern to a 7-0 victory over Hauser Monday in the postseason opener for the Spartans.
The win was the third of the season for Southwestern over the Jets (4-9-2). Trent Todd and Brayden Elliott also scored goals for the Spartans, who improved to 12-3-2.
In the Class A, Sectional 43 quarterfinal round Monday at Southwestern, Shawe Memorial defeated Austin, 9-0, to set up a semifinal round rematch with Southwestern on Wednesday. The Spartans defeated the Hilltoppers, 6-2, in the season-opening match this season for both programs.
Gus Grote scored three goals and had an assist for Shawe Memorial (12-4-1). Bartosz Rychlicki had two goals and an assist and Tyler Hill, Rodrigo Reyes-Miranda, Leo Garcia and Dylan Fitzpatrick found the back of the net in the shutout victory over Austin (3-14).

Connersville scored six goals in the opening 40 minutes and rolled to a Class 2A, Sectional 26 quarterfinal round win over Triton Central (3-12-1).
Mitchell Steele scored four goals and had two assists for the Spartans (13-3-1). Jonathon Ropp had two goals and two assists and Lakin Lakes, Kaden Mapes and Jacob Laughlin scored goals to advance Connersville to a sectional semifinal round match against Greensburg (10-7), a 9-0 winner Monday over the host Lions (3-13-1).
Volleyball
North Decatur def. Southwestern, 25-18, 25-20, 25-21
At Southwestern, Madi Allen, Sydney Rohls and Miley Scudder each had double-digit kills to lead the Chargers to the Mid-Hoosier Conference victory over the Spartans (15-13, 4-2 MHC).
Allen finished with a team-high 13 kills and had two service aces and five digs. Rohls collected 12 kills and six aces. Scudder had 11 kills.
Connersville def. Waldron, 25-13, 25-15, 25-19
At Connersville, Kendyl Bottomley led the host Spartans (15-12) with 10 kills. Stella Holmes finished with eight kills.
Breana Brock had three aces and a team-high 15 digs and 28 assists.
The Mohawks dropped to 3-21.
Eastern Hancock def. Triton Central, 25-19, 25-21, 25-22
At Eastern Hancock, Lucy May led the visiting Tigers (15-9) with seven kills and Gwyn Williams and Addison Gibbs each had six kills.
Williams finished with a team-high 14 digs. Arry Brown collected 15 assists.
Eastern Hancock improved to 21-6.
