Owen Dale Harvey, 97, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and formerly of Rockville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, with his wife by his side.
He was born June 29, 1928, in Bloomingdale, Indiana, the son of Harlow Lee Harvey and Tressie Gretchen (Shoaf) Harvey. He was a 1946 graduate of Bloomingdale High School.
Owen was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving 18 months beginning in 1951. After returning home, he married Mary Lorraine Brown, who preceded him in death in 2006. Together they were the parents of three children: Roger Lee (deceased), Anita Harvey of Lizton, and Kevin Harvey of Indianapolis.
Owen began his farming career in 1955 in the Bellmore area, where he farmed for 41 years. He also served faithfully on the REMC Board of Directors for 30 years.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he loved his church family.
On September 24, 2011, Owen was united in marriage to Sharon Scott Powell Harvey. They were blessed with fourteen years of happiness. Through this marriage, he was the stepfather of Mark S. Powell (deceased), Terry “Lisa” Powell of Crawfordsville, and had six step-grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren who dearly loved him. He walked into their hearts and lives and became a treasured part of their family.
Other survivors also include special friends Ted and Krista Leatherman and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary; son, Roger; stepson, Mark; and two sisters, Zona Gayle Bayless and Rosalie Long.
Services will be Friday, December 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Shane Powell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville.
