
Mary Catherine Overpeck, 84, of Clinton, Indiana passed away Friday July 25, 2025, in her residence.
She was the retired owner of Overpeck Funeral Home in Dana for 32 years, and a partner with Overpeck-Gooch Funeral Home in Dana for 23 years.
She was born August 28, 1940, in Clinton, Indiana to the late James William Barnes and Mary Evelyn Collison Barnes.
On July 14, 1962, she married Darrell Lee Overpeck, he preceded her in death June 23, 2020.
Survivors include, one daughter, Darrylene (Ricky) Corbin of Rome, Georgia; one son, Darrell “Dee” Overpeck of Clinton; four grandchildren, Ben Corbin, Sam Corbin and Mary Emily Corbin; great-granddaughter, Maylee Corbin; special friend Chester Decker of Dana who helped her with odd jobs around the funeral home for many years; one niece and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Corbin on December 18, 2016, and sister, Billie Jane Slaton on November 12, 2014.
She was a 1958 graduate of Rockville High School and attended Indiana University. After High School graduation she was one of the first lifeguards for the new Rockville Swimming Pool in Beechwood Park. She was a member of the Dana United Methodist Church and active with the Rockville High School Alumni Association. Her parents were the founders of Barnes Mortuary in Rockville where she grew up helping her parents and after marriage, she and Darrell purchased the Kersey Funeral Home of Dana in 1966 establishing Overpeck Funeral Home. They also provided the community with ambulance service until 1977. She was active in the day-to-day operation until 1998 and then dedicated herself to working anytime needed until she retired in 2020. She enjoyed boating at Racoon Lake. She always placed others before her own needs and selflessly cancelled or changed her plans on a moment’s notice to serve a family. She loved animals and would take in any stray and give them a loving home.
Services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 29, at Bono Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Steve Blaydes, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation is from 11:00 am until 1: 00 pm Tuesday at Bono Cemetery Chapel.
