Mark Alvin Kredlo aka “Cranky”, 69, of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, in Plymouth, Indiana. He was born on February 1, 1957, in Valparaiso, Indiana, and lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for family, friends, and the simple pleasures he enjoyed most.
Mark was the beloved youngest son of the late Raymond Kredlo and the late Marna (Smith) Kredlo. He was a devoted father to Vince Kredlo and shared his life with his girlfriend, Shelly Heim. He was also a loving brother to Mary Beth Walker and Denise (Ron) Reeves. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Kredlo, Margaret Kredlo, and his brothers, Tim Kredlo and Tom Kredlo. His family was an important part of his life, and he will be remembered with love by all who knew him.
Mark graduated from Portage High School with the class of 1975 and later attended Vincennes University, graduating with the class of 1978 with a degree in construction management. He carried the values of those early years with him throughout his life, meeting each day with determination, true grit, and a very strong work ethic. He spent more than 45 years working as a roofing foreman and was a proud member of Roofers Local 23. His long career included projects on buildings such as Notre Dame’s iconic “Golden Dome” administration building, the “Ascent” building in Covington KY, and the “Old Main” building at the University of Arkansas. Which in turn, have now become a lasting testimony to his dedication towards honest labor and the respect that he earned from those who worked alongside him.
Outside of work, Mark found joy in the outdoors and in the activities that brought him peace and happiness. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, hiking, camping and spending his time as an outdoorsman. He also liked golfing, western themed movies/shows, Notre Dame and Chicago Bears football, and of course relaxing with friends, music, and a cold beer. These interests were a reflection of the easygoing spirit and appreciation for life that those close to him will always remember.
Mark will be remembered as a hardworking man with a kind heart and a steady presence. He rarely hesitated to help someone who was in need. He valued family, friendship, and the traditions that made life meaningful. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial visitation will be on Saturday, September 26th, 2026, from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service will immediately follow starting at 11 a.m. All being held at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial contribution be made in Mark’s name to the Lakeville Conservation Club, 67749 Lake Trail, Lakeville, IN 46536 and/or American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St. Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46278.
