Lloyd Duane Glover, 89, passed peacefully Monday, July 28, 2025 at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville, Indiana.
He was born in 1936, the only child to the late Clarence “Bill” and Lula Mae (Buchanan) Glover and lived in Perrysville, Indiana, a small town he loved, for the majority of his life.
He graduated from Perrysville High School in 1954 and married the late Virginia Lucille “Sis” Ping on October 10, 1959. They had their only child, Douglas Duane Glover, on June 4, 1968. After Sis passed away, he enjoyed a great deal of time with his good friend Helen Sare.
Lloyd worked 39 years at the same location, for Olin and Flexel companies just west of Covington, Indiana, until his retirement in 1998. He prided himself on never missing a day of work; putting in overtime whenever he could. His son was certainly proud of him for never missing a day of work, driving up to the plant on Old State Road 63 rain or shine, snow or sleet. He was a true family man who always put his wife and son first, as well as other family and his friends in the community.
Before and after retirement, he was a huge lover of sports and anything related to sports. He played basketball and football in high school and loved watching men’s college basketball and football, and women’s college softball. He enjoyed taking his family to many different MLB baseball games whether in St. Louis, Chicago, or Cincinnati.
After retiring and his wife's passing, he and his son took yearly trips many times to his favorite spots like National Parks out West or riding old steam-engine trains in the mountains. He also enjoyed his TV shows with one of his favorites being NBC’s Law and Order. He loved playing cards with multiple groups of friends in Perrysville at Jerry’s Snack Bar and the Handymart. He also enjoyed hanging out at Arby’s just north of Perryville for a cup of coffee and some community time. He was known, even recently up to and right before his quick decline and passing, to partake in a Coors Banquet beer.
He is survived by his son Doug of Fishers, Indiana; dear nephews and a niece – Jeff (Rita) Ping of Covington, Tony (Cathy) Ping (and his son Tucker) of Veedersburg, Indiana, Robert (Tom) Ping-Slater of Bloomington, Indiana, Michael (Bradley Winnie) Ping of Hollywood, Florida, Dina (the late Kendall) Sams (and their son Bryson) of Perrysville; a brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Ping; and his very special friend, Helen Sare of Covington.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; a super dear sister-in-law, Linda Lu (West) Ping; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Lee Ping and Delgar F. “Junior” Ping.
