Judith “Judie” A. Apt 79, of Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 6:31 P.M. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at her home, with her family at her side.
She was born in South Bend, Indiana on April 29, 1947, the daughter of Robert and Helen (Ruppert) Veith. On June 14, 1969, at the Zion United Church of Christ in South Bend, Indiana, she married Frank David Apt. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2022.
After graduating from South Bend Central High School, Judie continued her education by attending Ball State University and getting her degree in Education. She worked as an elementary teacher with the Rochester Community Schools retiring as Librarian with the Rochester Middle School. She had been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Judie was a competitive swimmer growing up and enjoyed reading, knitting and spending time at her Lake Manitou home.
Survivors include her son, Brian Apt, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, Kyle Apt, Elkhart, Indiana, Quintin Allen, Mentone, Indiana, Lorna Apt, Mentone, Indiana, brother, Bob Veith, Indianapolis, Indiana, sister-in-law, Beth (Dan) Gilligan, Gainesville, Virginia, several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, son, Jim Apt and brother, Tom Veith.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Rochester, Indiana.
Friends may visit one hour prior to service Thursday at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
