Jack Thomas, 83, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away while at Union Hospital on August 27, 2025, following a lengthy illness.
Jack was born on May 29, 1942, in Coal City, Indiana, the son of William and Dorothy (Bender) Thomas. He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1960. Jack worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Local 841 for several years. When he wasn’t working Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. He was a member of the Centerpoint Masonic Lodge and York Rite.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents William and Dorothy Thomas; and a brother Bill William Jr.; sisters Virginia Elliott and Romana Huletta.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Thomas whom he married on June 12, 1991; his son Tony Barnard (Tausha Beck); grandchildren: Devyn Beck, Kadyn Beck, and Jerran Beck; a brother Robert Thomas; sister: Dorothy Sears; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Celebration of life services will be held at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
Visitation will be prior to services from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
