PLYMOUTH- Candy L. Shufelt, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Candy was born on August 10, 1970, in Plymouth, Indiana. She married Michael on January 3, 1991, in Plymouth, and they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage.
Candy worked as a Behavioral Health Technician at Michiana Behavioral Health. Kind, caring, loving, and positive are just a few of the words that describe her. She was a woman who always found the greatest value in others and encouraged everyone around her to love one another as God does.
Candy enjoyed swimming in her pool and soaking up the sun whenever possible. She also loved spending time on the phone with family and friends, catching up on life and staying connected. Her Boston Terriers, Diesel and Drogo, held a special place in her heart, but nothing compared to the love she had for her family—especially her grandchildren.
Candy is survived by her husband, Michael, of Plymouth; her mother, Gracie (Howard) Griffin of Koontz Lake; her children, Samantha (David) Stewart of Plymouth, Shawna (Charles) Stewart of South Bend, and Michael Shufelt of Plymouth; grandchildren Trinity, Sydnee, Cash, Kinley, and Layla; one great-grandson; sister Kizzy (Robert) Isom of Plymouth; Stewart (Dawn) Hummel of Nappanee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Eugene and Naomi Stewart.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. A funeral service will immediately follow, with Robert Isom officiating.
Burial will take place at New Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth.
