Betty L. Meyer, age 86, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown, Evansville, Indiana.
Betty L. Meyer, age 86, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown, Evansville, Indiana. She was born May 4, 1939, in Oakland City, Indiana, the daughter of John W. Dunn and Margaret Gilmore Dunn. She married James Meyer December 4, 1960, and he survives.
Betty was a devoted homemaker and a faithful member of First Christian Church in Bridgeport. She served her church as Missions Treasurer, Church Clerk and was actively involved in the James 1:27 Ministry Meal, reflecting her caring and servant’s heart. She was a 1958 graduate of Oakland City School and attended Olney Central College. Betty worked for Dr. Po for many years, where she was appreciated for her dedication and kindness. She found great joy in caring for her animals, cooking and baking for others, and beautifully decorating her home. Betty especially cherished her role as a grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed working outdoors, tending to her flower garden.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents, sons: Darrell Meyer and James Meyer, Jr.; siblings: Don Dunn, William (Bud) Dunn, Juanita Evans and Helen Dunn.
Survivors include: her husband; children, Daniel Meyer of Bridgeport, John (Cindy) Meyer of Lawrenceville, Ashley (Carlton) Valiant of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Adrian Meyer and Amber Green; great-grandchildren Lyric Valiant, Lennyx Valiant, Ryker Valiant, Lamont Nash, Ja’Kyha Green, Brooks Meyer, Blakely Meyer.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 6, 2026, 12:00 p.m. at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. till the service hour of 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Petersburg, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society at P. O. Box 415, Lawrenceville, IL 62439.
