Allan Melvin Moody, 88, of Kingman

Allan Melvin Moody, 88, of Kingman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.

He was born in rural Kingman on November 14, 1936, to the late Edward Moody and Ruth Delilah (Allen) Moody. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a longtime member of Prairie Creek Baptist Church, where he shared his love of music as a soloist over the years.

Allan was formerly employed at Marshall Studios in Veedersburg and later retired in 1998 from Tee-Pak in Danville, Illinois, where he was fondly known by coworkers as “Frog.” He was a man of many talents and interests, especially known for his love of golfing, photography, traveling, music, and woodworking. He took great pride in his woodcrafts, often sharing his work with family and friends and even showcasing it at the Covered Bridge Festival.

On March 9, 1962, Allan married the love of his life, Patsy Leona (Paxton) Gilliland Moody. He became a devoted father to her daughter Jean and later welcomed their daughter Mary. After 37 years of marriage, Patsy passed away on January 8, 1999, following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. In 2001, Allan married Betty Jo (Gilliland) Whitford Moody, who also preceded him in death on September 15, 2023.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers: Marlin, Don, Gene, Wayne, and Ronald.

Allan is survived by two daughters, Jean (Tom) Cook of Kingman and Mary (Jeremy) Kendall of Smithfield, Pennsylvania; one sister, Sandra (Don) Lightle of Waynetown; stepchildren, Dennis (Sally) Whitford of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and Christi (Jeff) Millikan of West Lebanon; grandchildren, Jessica (Bryan) Shields, Justin (Jenny) Cook, and Paxton Kendall; step-grandchildren, Nathan Whitford and Ashley (Nick) Turus; great-grandchildren, Jax and Jameson Cook; step-great-grandchildren, Leah and Jimmy Turus; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Allan shared his final years with his beloved dog, Ollie. He found joy in attending his grandchildren’s many activities—especially baseball, basketball, and music events.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Loren Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.
