Tuesday, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 8282, the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act.
Today's vote comes after the International Criminal Court (ICC) filed applications for arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in May.
“The ICC is out-of-control and just another unserious, globalist outfit that doesn't advance our values and routinely goes out of its way to baselessly attack Israel. Israel has every right to defend itself against barbaric Hamas terrorists without worrying what leftists in European cities think.
"This vote is an important step in standing up for our ally Israel and our own sovereignty by standing up to abuse and unjust attacks coming out of the ICC."
Background:
The Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act imposes sanctions on the ICC and any foreign actor who supports their effort to arrest, detain, or prosecute protected persons of the United States and its allies, including Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant.
