Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a boating accident that occurred on the Tippecanoe River near Buffalo yesterday.
At 7:02 p.m., the White County Communications Center received a 911 call of a boating accident near the 5000 block of East Cooper Drive outside of Buffalo.
Initial investigation determined that Justin Edmonds, 76, of Glenview, Illinois, was operating a boat in the dredge operation zone when he struck the submerged dredge pipe. The boat came to a sudden halt, throwing some of the occupants from the boat.
Five passengers, including three adults and two juveniles, were transported to IU Health White Memorial hospital with minor injuries. Edmonds was transported via ambulance to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette for medical treatment. Doris Paniagua Monterroso, 39, also of Glenview, was transported to IU Health White Memorial then transferred via Lutheran Air Helicopter to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis in stable condition with facial injuries.
An investigation is ongoing.
Other assisting agencies included Buffalo Fire Department, Buffalo and Monon Emergency Medical Services, Monticello Water Rescue, and White County Sheriff’s Department.
