A Brazil woman has accused a longtime friend of using her identity to steal more than $11,000 in unemployment benefits.
The Indiana State Police began investigating this incident back in March 2021, when 38-year-old Amber N. Baysinger was accused of stealing at least $5,000 of the victim’s unemployment money. Baysinger had assisted the victim in applying for unemployment.
The state issued the victim a debit card with her benefits but also issued 2 other cards without the victim’s knowledge. The investigation has revealed that the total amount of missing money is just over $11,000.
Baysinger was arrested last month and released on her own recognizance after an initial hearing in Vigo County Superior Court 3.
