The body of Wisconsin firefighter Tom Diener was returned home Monday afternoon in a ceremonial processional following his tragic death in a crash on U.S. 30 last week.
Diener, 26, proudly served as a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Oshkosh Fire Department and as a lieutenant with the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department.
Diener was killed when a tractor-trailer struck a pickup truck on the north shoulder of U.S. 30. He was seated in the vehicle with two fellow Wisconsin firefighters, Carter Haen and Robbie Betts, at the time of the collision.

The impact ejected Diener from the vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Haen and Betts sustained injuries and were transported to Memorial Hospital Trauma Center for treatment.
According to investigators, Abdussalam Noor, 47, of Maryland, was traveling westbound on U.S. 30 in a tractor-trailer when he struck the firefighters' stationary pickup truck on the shoulder.
The Indiana State Police and the Marshall County Sheriff's Department are investigating the crash. Once the investigation is complete, including the collection of all information and data, findings will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor's Office for review.

Members of the Plymouth Fire Department and several other local departments gathered at the Johnson Danielson Funeral Home on Monday to honor Diener. Representatives from the Sheboygan Fire Department received his body for transport home to Wisconsin.
A donation page has been established through the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation in memory of Tom Diener and to support the recovery of Carter Haen and Robbie Betts. Donations can be made at https://pffwcf.networkforgood.com/.../266783-honor-tom...
