Officers from the Plymouth Police Department were busy this weekend with many arrests.
Friday morning November 29th, at approximately 5 o’clock a traffic stop was conducted at Michigan and Pierce Streets after a vehicle was observed traveling without headlights. The driver was identified as Jose A. Vargas, 46 of Katy, Texas. He had never been issued a driver's license and was suspected of being under the influence. Vargas refused a chemical test, and a search warrant was obtained. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail pending criminal charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangering, operating a vehicle while intoxicated-controlled substance and operator never licensed.
Friday afternoon at approximately 1:30, Officer Fisher with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates in the Kroger parking lot. The driver was identified as Karia Carrion-Rodriguez, 37, of Plymouth. She was taken into custody for an operator never licensed, transported to Marshall County Jail, and booked in for an operator never licensed.
Saturday morning, November 30th, just after midnight, Plymouth Police Officers were called to a residence on North Plum Street for the report of a possible residential entry. During the investigation, it was determined Hector Fortin Granados, 18, of Plymouth, damaged property belonging to others. He has also illegally consumed alcohol being underage. Granados was lodged in the Marshall County Jail for criminal mischief.
Just after 6 a.m. Plymouth Police were dispatched to the area of Plymouth Hospital for a possible impaired driver. While checking the area, 47-year-old Bobby Ross II of Plymouth contacted the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center and advised that he knew officers were looking for him and that he was in the Walmart parking lot. Officers then located Ross in the Walmart parking lot. An investigation took place, and it found that Ross was under the influence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and issued a court date and bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
