The Vincennes Board of Works and City Council met in the first session for both in the month of August.
Whitney Thacker appeared before the BOW to request approval for the closure of the 100, 200, and 300 blocks of Main Street for the Halloween Bash, scheduled for October 31. The board approved the closure.
Vincennes Rotary requested use of the Riverfront Pavilion on September 9 for the fourth annual Rotary First Responders Luncheon. Rotary will be using the pavilion from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. that day. The request was approved unanimously.
Vincennes City Engineer John Sprague appeared before the board to request approval for the final sign off on the first phase of the Washington Avenue Project. the board approved the sign off.
In City Council news, Collin Wheeler and Logan Gabhart appeared as part of the public comment session to discuss looking into adding side-by-sides into the allowance of off road vehicles on city streets. Currently, side-by-sides are prohibited on the Vincennes roadways. Gabhart and Wheeler brought council members legislation from other communities in regards to the measure. They also say 194 people so far have signed a Change.org petition to petition the change. No action was taken on the comment.
