Vermillion Couinty Commissioners have implemeted a burn ban with continued dry, warm conditions across the area.
The ban is until further notice. As of this report, Vermillion joins Benton County as those with burn bans in Western Indiana. Another 11 counties in southern Indiana and along the Ohio border in the southeastern portion of the state have also declared bans.
“Due to the continuing drought conditions there is an increased danger of wild fires caused by open burning of combustible materials and outdoor work that produces heat and sparks,” said the Vermillion County Emergency Management Agency. “The Vermillion County Commissioners urge all citizens of the county to observe caution when working outdoors on projects that create a heat source and might possibly ignite a fire that can get out of control.”
