The Lawrenceville V.F.W. Post #2244 presented the 2025 First Responder Awards on Memorial Day.
The awards were given out at the post at 511 12th Street in Lawrenceville following the annual remembrance ceremony held at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. They serve to recognize the bravery, dedication and selfless service of local first responders.
The Paramedic of the Year was Carrie Hough with the Lawrence County Ambulance Service, the Police Officer of the Year was Brandon Sapp of the Lawrenceville Police Department and the Firefighter of the Year was Scott Scherer with the Lawrence-Allison Fire Protection District.
Special recognition was given by the post to Lawrenceville couple Kevin and Janet Kavanaugh for their support of the V.F.W Post and its activities. The honors were handed out by Post Commander David Blann.
