An area hospital and a car dealership have joined forces to help ensure safe and healthy starts for families in the Wabash Valley.
Union Health Foundation is teaming up with Fuson Automotive to provide essential safety equipment, car seats and pack and play units to families facing financial challenges, and, according to officials, the partnership will help bridge a gap between families of newborns and the car seats and safe sleep environments they need.
According to data from the Indiana Department of Health, unsafe sleep is one of the leading causes of preventable infant deaths, contributing to approximately 18 percent of infant fatalities annually.
David Fuson, general manager of Fuson Automotive Group, said his company believes in giving back to the community and supporting families during life’s most important milestone.
“We’re proud to partner with Union Health to provide these essential safety items, helping new parents feel confident and secure as they begin their journey,” Fuson said.
Becky Miller, President of Union Health Foundation, welcomed the partnership.
“This partnership and donation will have a profound impact on vulnerable families served at Union Health. By providing high-quality, safety-tested car seats and pack-and-play units, we’re helping to reduce risks and support healthy, safe environments for our newest community members.”
