Tragedy in southwestern Indiana on New Years Eve.
Tuesday around 6:25 a.m, the Gibson County Sheriffs Department received a report of a residential fire on Indiana State Road 64 near the town of Francisco.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers attempted to enter the burning home and discovered a deceased person.
They could go no further inside the residence due to intense heat and fire conditions.
Firefighters did arrive at the scene and discovered a second person also deceased inside.
The two subjects were not identified.
The case remains an active death and fire investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshall, Indiana State Police, Gibson County Sheriffs Department and the Gibson County Coroner.
