Shane Carie appeared Thursday October 1st for an initial appearance in Knox County (Ind.) Superior Court One.
The 37-year-old Vincennes man is charged with Arson and Murder in the Monday, September 21st fire that killed 19-year-old Aileese Tucker, also of Vincennes.
Authorities investigating the fire that took the life of Tucker say that it was intentionally set at a residence on North 11th Street in Vincennes. She was discovered inside the home and later died at an Indianapolis hospital.
During the court proceeding, presiding Judge Gara Lee appointed attorney Brian Smith to represent Carie and set a preliminary trial date of Tuesday, December 15th.
Afterwards, Carie was remanded back into the custody of the Knox County Sheriff's Department to be held without bond after a defense request for the setting of bond was denied by the judge.
