Traffic charges turn into deportation warrant

A man from Mexico is facing more than just driving without ever being licensed following a traffic stop recently in Parke County.

According to a news release from Parke County Sheriff Jason Frazier, Alberto Gonzalez-Viveros, 45, Mexico, was stopped by deputies on State Road 59 and Ferndale Road. During the stop, it was discovered that Gonzalez-Viveros was operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license. In addition, deputies noted Gonzalez-Viveros had an active warrant for failure to appear for deportation from the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Gonzalez-Viveros was transported to the Parke County Jail, where he was held without bond. According to court documents, this was not the first encounter with police for Gonzalez-Viveros, who had been stopped multiple times and was arrested at least three times since 2019 for various crimes, including driving without a license, operating without financial responsibility and distracted driving.
