Plymouth Police arrested three 18-year-olds early Sunday morning, May 4th
At approximately 4:30 a.m., Officer Witkowski conducted a traffic stop on a red Mazda in the 1,000 block of North Michigan Street because the vehicle was driving without its lights on. During the stop, an odor of marijuana was detected emanating from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and suspected marijuana was found inside.

During the officer’s investigation, it was confirmed that the driver had never received a valid license, and he was impaired. Gerson Martinez, of West Harrison Street in Plymouth, was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and possession of marijuana.

The two passengers in the vehicle, Jonathan Gutierrez Reyes of West Washington Street and Isaac Martinez-Tobar, also of West Harrison Street, were taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail for possession of marijuana.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
