Taco Bandit Busted: Plymouth man arrested for swiping doorstep Taco Bell order

In a case that proves crime doesn't pay — and apparently doesn't fill you up, either — police arrested a Plymouth man after he allegedly stole a Taco Bell order from a neighbor's doorstep.

According to the Plymouth Police Department, Patrolman Thornton was dispatched to the Centennial Crossing Apartments on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. on September 8th, following a theft report. The victim had video footage showing a male walking past one of the apartments and making off with a freshly delivered Taco Bell order left at the door.

Thanks to the footage — and the suspect's status as a fellow Centennial Crossing resident — Officer Thornton was able to track down the alleged taco thief. The suspect was identified as Drew Michael Olds, 38, who also lives at the apartment complex. He was taken into custody for the incident.

Olds was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on charges of theft and obstruction of justice. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

He was released on Thursday, September 10th, at 12:50 p.m. with no judicial review.

No word on whether the stolen tacos were ever recovered — or whether they were still warm by the time the investigation concluded.

In all seriousness, doorstep package and food delivery theft is a growing concern for residents who rely on delivery services across the nation. Police encourage residents to track their deliveries closely, request drop-off notifications, and consider installing doorbell cameras — which, as this case demonstrates, can make all the difference.
