Suspect arrested in Winamac after attempts to flee police

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office has released additional information into arrest of Timothy Ross, who faces several felony charges after allegedly attempting to flee twice from police Sunday.

On Sunday, Pulaski County sheriff's deputies responded to an address in Winamac for a domestic dispute. A complainant advised that a man, identified as Timothy Ross, pointed a firearm at her and she fled the residence.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with her about the incident. Ross was requested out of the house and reportedly complied. Police say he then was placed in handcuffs, with his hands behind his back, and secured in a police vehicle that was not equipped with a transport cage.

Deputies continued the investigation, and independently corroborated the complaint. The firearm located was reported stolen, police said.

As a sheriff's deputy went back to the vehicle, Ross was reportedly located with his hands then in front of him, and the truck window rolled down. The deputy had Ross step out and was escorting him to a police vehicle with a cage when he "snapped away" from the deputy and fled on foot.

After several turns, the deputy lost sight of Ross. Extra personnel was requested to include thermal drones and a police dog. Numerous sightings of Ross were reported prior to police making contact with him.

Ross was subsequently located hiding in some brush near a Pizza King. Upon making contact, he fled again, police said. A smaller perimeter was in place, and an officer was able to head off Ross and subdue him. The officer reportedly sustained minor injuries from the encounter.

Ross was then transported to the Pulaski County Jail without further incident.
