Students from VOICE had the unique opportunity to meet with Representative Jordan at the Indiana State House Wednesday. This visit was part of Tobacco Free Indiana Advocacy Day aimed at providing students with a firsthand experience of the legislative process and the workings of state government.
VOICE is Indiana’s statewide youth empowerment brand. This initiative is designed to engage, educate, and empower teens to promote and celebrate tobacco-free lifestyles. VOICE focuses on exposing the tactics of the tobacco industry, educating the public about the dangers of tobacco use, and empowering youth to advocate for change in their communities.
Jalysa Gibson, the Youth Tobacco Coordinator for Marshall County, led a group of nine students from Bremen and Urey Middle Schools to meet with Representative Jordan. The students had the opportunity to ask questions about vaping and discuss the need for stricter laws and increased funding for prevention and education.
