Steve Barber, a Democrat, has filed for re-election to the North Township Advisory Board, seeking a second term after serving during the establishment of the North Township-LaPaz Fire Territory.
Barber filed his candidacy on Tuesday, January 7.
Barber has served on the Advisory Board for three years, during which time the North Township-LaPaz Fire Territory was created and completed its first year of operation in 2025.
In his announcement, Barber described his approach to service as focused on "mutual respect, kindness, loving our neighbors, and pursuing the common good in our community."
During his tenure, Barber said he has worked to support first responders with necessary equipment, enhance emergency services to meet community needs, and maintain reasonable costs.
"The Fire Territory just completed their first year of operation, and we still have much to learn and improvements to make," Barber stated in his announcement.
Barber emphasized continued support for emergency services and the developing fire territory as central to his re-election bid.
"We all appreciate your support as we continue working hard for the LaPaz and North Township community," he said.
Barber welcomed feedback and concerns from constituents via email at steveforjustice@gmail.com.
The primary election will be held in May 2026, with the general election scheduled for November 2026.
The North Township Advisory Board works alongside the township trustee to oversee township operations. Advisory board members serve four-year terms.
