The St Francisville City Council met in regular monthly session Wednesday evening. They are considering resubmitting their previous application for ITEP grant funding for the rehabilitation of city sidewalks and of the 13th Street bridge. The previous application was turned down by a narrow margin in 2022. Officials with Civil Design Engineering of Effingham spoke to the council and indicated that a resubmission could be successful with some additional information and additional public support. The city council could call a public meeting to gauge the community interest in the project. The next Illinois grant submission cycle begins in August and it is hoped that decision will be made by then. Work is progressing on the Cannonball Bridge construction project. Construction manager HLR Engineering reported that pilings in piers continue to be driven at the work site. 104 piles have been completed since late February and the work is expected to wrap up this week. Concrete piers are expected to be constructed starting also this week.
