The local Marshall Starke County Special Olympics athletes are heading to the state tournaments, and a special send-off is scheduled for Thursday evening in Culver.
Teams participating in the state competition include swimming, track and field, bowling, and powerlifting. They will compete at the state level for three days, staying on the campuses of Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The bus carrying the athletes will leave from Culver High School at 6 pm. It will be escorted through Culver to allow friends, family, and community members to wish them good luck at the competition!
This is the biggest event of the year, and the Marshall Starke Special Olympic athletes and their coaches hope to see many faces lining the streets to wave them off with posters and signs.
The bus will leave Culver High School at 6 p.m., traveling down School Street to Academy Road, then onto Lake Shore Drive and Main Street before heading to Terre Haute.
