The Marshall County Council will conduct a special meeting on Thursday evening, September 26th, in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building. The special meeting will begin at 6 p.m., one hour before the Marshall County Plan Commission meeting.
The meeting has been called to allow members to discuss a Board of Zoning Appeals case request for advertising and legal counsel. The BZA case was not initially approved, so the request has been deferred to the entire Council for consideration.
County Plan Director Ty Adley submitted the request in accordance with the Council’s requirement established in June when they ran out of funds for the expense of Printing/Advertising and Legal fees. This meeting will determine whether the Council will pay for the advertising and legal services in the case involving Invenergy and the Tamarack Solar Project.
The BZA request is for a Special Use to allow a 150 MegaWatt, 446-panel Farm Scale Solar Energy System with 1,435 acres within perimeter fencing in portions of West and Union Townships. The project is spread across 50 individual parcel-numbered properties.
The request presented at tonight’s special County Council meeting also includes authorization for consultation on BZA procedural matters, consultation on solar application, and counsel attendance at the BZA meeting related to the solar application with the Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeal legal counsel.
The special meeting is open to the public and will be streamed live on the county’s YouTube page, accessible from the county’s website at www.co.marshall.in.us.
