A letter from South Putnam Superintendent of Schools Dr. Corey Smith gave some detail to an ongoing investigation involving the corporation's middle school.
Dr. Smith offered the following letter to those in the district Thursday:
Good evening, middle school families. South Putnam Middle School is investigating a concerning student statement related to the school. We take all such matters seriously and are working closely with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department. The student involved will not be in the building tomorrow (Fri) as the investigation continues. The school administration and the student’s family are fully cooperating with law enforcement.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and all necessary precautions are in place for a safe school day.
No other details about the statement were unveiled in the letter from Dr. Smith.
