In Knox Circuit Court Wednesday, 32-year-old Dylan A. Smith of Vincennes made his initial court appearance. Smith is charged with the murder of 30-year-old Taylor Hendershot.
Smith pled not guilty to the charge and was appointed a public defender in the case.
Knox County Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan is seeking an enhanced murder charge that carries up to 85 years in prison.
Prior to being appointed an attorney, Smith was asking about requesting a change of venue.
Shortly after being appointed an attorney, he then ask if the county would be interested in making a deal. No deal was offered in court today as the defense’s council was not present.
A jury trial date for the matter has been scheduled for November 4th in Knox Circuit Court.
