In July, Shelbyville High School will join six other high schools across the state of Indiana in Cohort 14 of the Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program (AP-TIP).
The other schools are Chesterton, Calumet New Tech, Decatur Central, Switzerland County, South Central, and Terre Haute North.
Since 2012, Indiana high schools have used their partnership with AP-TIP to increase enrollment and success in AP classes:
On average, enrollment of all students in AP math, science, and English courses increased by 49%, enrollment of traditionally under-represented students increased by 93%, and enrollment of female students in AP math and science subjects increased by 53%.
On average, the total number of AP math, science, and English qualifying exam scores increased by 65%, 90% for traditionally under-represented students, and 62% for female students in AP math and science subjects.
Cohort 14 is now the second AP-TIP cohort to welcome both AP and Dual Credit teachers, underscoring the program’s commitment to high-quality teaching and learning for all.
Across three years of cohort membership, AP and Dual Credit math, science, and English teachers at Shelbyville High School will receive fully-funded access to a wide array of instructional resources and professional events.
Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program
AP-TIP is a non-profit program of the Institute for Educational Initiatives and the Center for STEM Education at the University of Notre Dame dedicated to improving students' college and career readiness.
Because AP-TIP believes that all young people deserve an education that prepares them for their own futures and empowers them to influence the communities in which they live, AP-TIP provides professional resources for AP and Dual Credit math, science, and English teachers committed to enhancing teaching and learning in advanced courses.
