The Shelbyville Parks and Recreation Department has launched a new mobile app available for download on iOS and Android devices.
Shelbyville is just the second municipality in Indiana to offer this type of platform for park users. Fort Wayne was the first.
“This is about creating more convenience, more access, and more engagement for the people we serve,” said Shelbyville Mayor Scott Furgeson in a media release. “It’s another way we’re living out our city’s mission of being Next Door. Next Level.”
The app enables account holders to manage access for each family member. Users can book a pavilion, register for a youth sports league or pay preschool tuition all while viewing receipts, managing billing, renewing memberships or even paying fees.
For seasonal pass holders, the app eliminates the need for physical cards.
The app also features a fully interactive trail map, showing not only the city’s trail network but also important amenities like restrooms and attraction points along the way – encouraging users to get out and explore more of Shelbyville’s natural assets.
In addition, the city’s free Bike Share Program is now integrated into the app, allowing users to check out bikes directly from their phones.
“We wanted to make it easier for people to connect with our parks – whether they’re registering a child for a class, planning a birthday party, or discovering a new trail,” said parks department administrative assistant Amy Wisker, who spearheaded the app’s creation. “This app is a direct response to the feedback we hear every day.”
The Shelbyville Parks and Recreation app is available now in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Just search “Shelbyville Parks” to get started.
