Five people have been arrested for their involvement in the burning to death of a Shelbyville man in Delaware County.
Delaware County Sheriff Jeff Stanley released information that his department had received final DNA test results from the Indiana State Police of their ongoing vehicle fire and homicide investigation that began December 14, 2025. The deceased has been identified as Michael D. Greer, 58, of Shelbyville.
In the release, Sheriff Stanley says investigators spent countless hours conducting interviews, reviewing evidence and working alongside local and state partners. He expressed appreciation to the Sheriff's Office Investigations Division, Delaware County Coroner's Office and the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office for their long hours on the case.
Early on the morning of December 14, the burning car was found in a Delaware County field. A man was found inside and evidence shows that he was alive when the car was set on fire.
To date, five people have been arrested in connection with the case.
Ameariss Aponte, 23, and Randal Moon Jr., 39, both of Indianapolis, are charged with murder, arson, kidnapping, criminal confinement and obstruction of justice.
Two Indianapolis women were charged, also. Amy Singhas, 43, and Megan Sloan, 30, are charged with aiding in each of the charges against Aponte and Moon. The women are also charged with possession of methamphetamine.
A fifth suspect, Tallis McCoy, was charged Wednesday with murder, arson, kidnapping, criminal confinement and obstruction of justice.
