51st District Republican State Senator Chapin Rose has been appointed to the Illinois Senate Republican leadership team in Springfield by his colleagues.
The move reflects his longstanding role as the Senate Republican Caucus's lead budget negotiator and a key voice in the party's fiscal policies. Senate Republican leader John Curran says that having Rose on the leadership team formalizes the part he has been playing in state government and that his experience, work ethic and deep understanding of the budgetary process make him a natural fit.
The 52-year-old Rose from Mahomet was elected to the newly reformed 51st District, which includes Lawrence County, in 2013 after spending 10 years in the Illinois House.
