The Illinois House of Representatives last week honored legendary former Lawrenceville Indian head basketball coach Ron Felling. House Joint Resolution 41 was adopted Thursday at the statehouse in Springfield. The measure was sponsored by 102nd District Republican State Representative Adam Niemerg. It designates Illinois Route 1 from North 950 Street to the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Illinois Route 1 as the "Coach Ron Felling Highway." The Illinois Department of Transportation will erect signs at suitable locations along that tract of land giving notice of the name "Coach Ron Felling Highway" along with the years of the state championships he was involved with-1972, 1974, 1982, 1983 and the 3rd place finish of 1976.
