The Rocket Fuel Robotics team at Riverside Intermediate hosted 36 teams on Saturday, January 25th, and ended the day with a major victory, taking home a trophy as tournament champions.
Three teams—53510 H, 53510 X, and 53510 S—earned the right to compete in the finals. Team 53510 X, composed of Caleb Celmer, Johnathan Summers, and Everett Schafer, finished in 8th place. Team 53510 H, featuring Joey Christianson, Bear Kallenberg, Bentley Klingerman, and Landon Sullivan, secured 3rd place. Leading the charge, Team 53510 S, consisting of Nate Honer, Peach Jones, Bentley Quint, and Lillian Woodward, claimed the top spot, earning the championship title.
The Rocket Fuel Robotics team will conclude their regular season at home on March 8th. Meanwhile, Team 53510 S will continue their journey at the VEX Robotics State Championships in Indianapolis on March 21st and 22nd.
“It has been an exciting year. The students have been working hard to reach their individual team goals, which ultimately lead to winning tournaments and posting top-ranked skills scores. It really is amazing what our young people can do when they feel supported,” said Laurie Wandland, head coach.
Assistant coach Jed Wandland echoed the sentiment, stating, “The amount of hard work being put forth by the students is truly astonishing to watch. They regularly take the robots home to build and code, and that takes a level of dedication that many don't have the privilege to see in today's youth. I am so proud of these kids!”
Plymouth Community School Corporation is incredibly proud of these students and their coaches for their continued excellence in robotics.
