Riverside Intermediate School students stepped out of the classroom and into the world of work during an exciting three-day field trip to Junior Achievement's JA BizTown in Elkhart.
Approximately 225 students, with 75 participating each day from October 27–29, received a hands-on opportunity to explore careers, develop financial literacy skills, and experience what it means to be a working professional.
JA BizTown provides students with a unique, real-world learning environment where they take on the responsibilities of employees, business leaders, and active community members. Throughout the experience, students explore career opportunities, learn about the job application process, earn paychecks, manage bank accounts, and practice making responsible financial decisions.

Beyond financial literacy, students gain valuable lessons in leadership, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. From operating businesses and developing advertising strategies to serving customers and collaborating with coworkers, students discover firsthand how individuals and businesses work together to create a thriving community.
This incredible learning opportunity was made possible through the dedication and organization of Riverside Intermediate School's lead teachers, Mr. Schoof, Mrs. Taylor, and Mr. Risner, who coordinated the field trip and secured the parent volunteers, essential to making the experience successful.
"JA BizTown brings classroom learning to life in a way that students will remember for years to come. It allows them to build confidence, discover new interests, and understand the importance of responsibility, teamwork, and financial decision-making."

Riverside Intermediate School extends its sincere appreciation to Junior Achievement and the many parent volunteers who generously contributed their time, energy, and enthusiasm to support the students. Their commitment helped create an engaging, meaningful, and memorable educational experience.
Experiences like JA BizTown remind us that some of the most powerful learning happens when students have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to the real world.
At Riverside Intermediate School, they are not just preparing students for the next grade level—they are preparing them for their futures!
