The Richland County Sheriffs Department is reporting an in-custody inmate death this week.
The incident occurred Wednesday morning at the Richland County Jail in Olney.
62 year old Donald Pollock was discovered unresponsive, unconscious and not breathing in his cell.
Life-saving measures were initiated and emergency medical services responded to the location.
Despite the efforts, Pollard was pronounced deceased.
He had been booked into the facility the previous evening on low-level firearms and drug charges.
The Illinois State Police have been called in to begin an independent investigation into the death.
The Richland County Coroners Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
