Members of the Plymouth Community School Corporation heard an update on the services provided to the schools by Solution Tree from Kyle Palmer.
Solution Tree was hired by the corporation to help establish higher levels of learning, sustain continuous improvement and chart the district’s path to lasting student achievement. Designed by renowned experts, their programs offer options for school districts looking to develop a long-term plan tailored to meet their strategic goals by creating a professional learning community.
Each of the solutions they provide is built on research-based processes to support the school staff, confront essential challenges, and foster sustainable change.
All four elementary school principals attended the meeting and voiced their support for the programming and training provided.
Following the presentation the Plymouth School Board approved the agreement for the 2024-25 school year. The cost of the contract is $221,000 for professional development and $8,840 for project administration.
Lincoln Junior High Principal Reid Gault was on hand to give school board members an update. Gault said, “Our work with Solution Tree and becoming a Professional Learning Community (PLC) is the right work and it is the right time.” He said they are in year 2 with Solution Tree.
The principal said they have adjusted the schedule to give a focus on learning. Students now have 65 minutes in their 4 core classes, and they are given options on 2 electives along with Storm Time which begins each day with time in Language Arts and Math.
Students are given diagnostic testing three times a year in math and twice a year in reading and language arts. Principal Reid said Learning Tree has been able to show the growth they are seeing in students.
