Plymouth Police report four arrests over three-day stretch

Officers with the Plymouth Police Department made four arrests between Monday and Wednesday of this week, with charges ranging from a warrant arrest to reckless driving.

The week's enforcement activity began when the Marshall County Probation Department contacted Plymouth Police on Monday afternoon, May 18^th, to report that a man with an active arrest warrant had walked into their office. Patrolman Thornton responded and took Lasaun Dereese Gaines, 48, of Kewanna, into custody and transported him to the Marshall County Jail, where he was held on the warrant.

Later that same evening at 6:10 p.m., Plymouth Police were dispatched to the Economy Inn on North Michigan Street for a report of an unknown disturbance. Upon arrival, officers were informed that a male had been intoxicated and acting disorderly toward multiple parties. During the encounter, the subject gave officers a false name and continued his disorderly behavior. Patrolman Thornton placed Oscar Rosales Chirinos, 20, of the Economy Inn, into custody and transported him to the Marshall County Jail. Chirinos was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and false informing.

Officer Mark conducted a traffic stop at Garro and Center Streets after observing the driver of a vehicle not wearing a seatbelt. The driver, Armando Mairena Garcia, 28, of Plymouth, was unable to produce a driver's license. Through further investigation, officers determined that Garcia had never held a United States driver's license. He was booked into the Marshall County Jail on charges of operating without ever receiving a license with a prior conviction, driving while suspended, and possession of marijuana.

Officer Mark observed a vehicle traveling at a dangerous rate of speed on U.S. 30 at Oak Drive — clocked at 93 miles per hour in a posted 50 mph zone while actively passing other motorists. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was identified as Destiny Caprio, 27, of Oswego, Illinois. Caprio was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a charge of reckless driving.

Readers are reminded that a criminal charge supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed. All individuals named are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
