Plymouth Police make 3 arrests for driving and warrant violations Tuesday and Wednesday

Plymouth Police officers arrested three people on driving and warrant-related charges over two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, including a man who gave officers a false name during a traffic stop and was found to have an active warrant.

Tuesday afternoon, June 16th, Patrolman Thornton initiated a traffic stop on a moped traveling down Oak Drive — the vehicle was carrying a juvenile passenger on the driver's lap. During the stop, the driver provided officers with a false name.

The driver was positively identified as Guadalupe Rivera, 41, of West LaPorte Street in Plymouth. A records check revealed Rivera had an active warrant through Marshall County for non-support of a dependent. He was taken into custody, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and booked for his existing warrant, along with a new charge of false informing.

Wednesday morning brought two more arrests within three hours of each other, both involving drivers who had never obtained a license.

At 8:20 a.m., Officer Krynock stopped a vehicle driven by Jose Tzunux Saban, 38, of Logansport, for a traffic infraction at the intersection of U.S. 30 and U.S. 31. Saban was found to have never received a driver's license and was lodged at the Marshall County Jail.

At 11:24 a.m., Police Chief Weir initiated a traffic stop after records showed the vehicle's owner possessed only an ID card. The driver, Rigoberto Santos Santiago, 67, of Plymouth, was found to have never obtained a driver's license and had no insurance. Santiago was taken into custody, booked into the Marshall County Jail, and his vehicle was impounded.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
