Plymouth Police Department officers made two arrests in separate traffic stops on consecutive evenings this week, resulting in charges ranging from driving without a license to operating while intoxicated on a controlled substance.
At approximately 10:10 p.m. Monday, Officer Allen initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of West Jefferson Street, just east of 8th Street. The driver, 63-year-old Jose Martinez of Plymouth, was found to be operating a vehicle without ever having obtained a driver's license. Further investigation revealed that Martinez had a prior conviction for the same offense earlier this year. He was booked into the Marshall County Jail on a charge of operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license, with a prior conviction.
Tuesday evening at approximately 9:00 p.m., Officer Schieber conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Michigan and Franklin Streets for equipment violations. The driver was identified as Brenda Hurley, 58, of Bourbon. K9 Kyzer was deployed during the stop and alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor. Officers also observed signs of impairment in Hurley. A search of the vehicle turned up suspected marijuana. Hurley was lodged in the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction.
