An unknown trouble call brought police to a Plymouth apartment building Wednesday night, where they found a man who didn't live there — punching walls, screaming, and leaving a trail of damage behind.
At approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, Plymouth Police were dispatched to 315 W. Garro Street, Garden Court Downtown, on a report of an unknown issue.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a male later identified as Joshua McCarty, 44, of Plymouth. McCarty was found to be highly intoxicated and was yelling and punching walls, according to police.
Witnesses identified McCarty as the individual responsible for damaging property within the apartment building. McCarty was not a resident of the apartment, police confirmed.
McCarty was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication and criminal mischief. He was transported and lodged at the Marshall County Jail.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
