Around 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19th, Indiana State Troopers were arresting a passenger of a pickup truck for a warrant.
While making the arrest in the parking lot of the Dollar General at Kingston and Jefferson Street, troopers discovered suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
The meth and paraphernalia were alleged to be Jeffrey Hickey’s, a 58-year-old Plymouth man. State troopers then went into the store, where they located Hickey, and took him into custody. Hickey was arrested for dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hypodermic needle, and possession of paraphernalia.
Troopers transported Jeffery Hickey to the Marshall County Jail around 8:40 pm. He received his new charges and was given a cash bond of $50,000. Hickey has yet to be released from the county jail and is awaiting arraignment.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
