A Plymouth man was arrested at the Economy Inn on public intoxication charges.
Just before 7 p.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to the scene for a person reported to be intoxicated and trying to drive away on a moped. James Stout, 50, was standing next to the moped in the hotel parking lot. The police reort says Stout was clearly intoxicated and was not able to provide information about where he was staying.
The owners of the motel stated that Stout did not have a room and that they did not want him on the property.
Stout was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital for jail clearance and then transported to Marshall County Jail where he was lodged for Public Intoxication, a Class B Misdemeanor.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
