This week, the Board of Public Works and Safety approved Plymouth Fire Chief Steve Holm to offer conditional employment to three new firefighters.
These new positions were discussed during the budget process last fall.
The chief said he recently completed the application and interview process and wanted to offer conditional employment to Mike Jimenez, who has volunteered with the Plymouth Fire Department for about 10 years. The second candidate is Maclain Middaugh from Bourbon. He volunteers in Bourbon and works full-time at Osolo Township Fire Department.
The chief said Middaugh wouldn’t be a lateral move because that department uses the civilian PERF instead of the 1977 Pension Fund. He said Jimenez and Middaugh must be accepted into the 1977 Pension Fund.
The final candidate is Steve Williams, who is currently employed by the City of Chesterton and works full-time in their Fire Department. Williams will be a lateral transfer since they use the 1977 Pension Fund.
The Board of Public Works and Safety unanimously approved the request to hire.
