The Plymouth Community School Corporation is inviting parents and community members to a special meeting this week to address the growing concern of youth vaping and substance abuse.
The free community event will take place on Thursday, March 12, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the Lincoln Education Center. Attendees are asked to enter through Door 1.
The evening will feature a presentation by Michael DeLeon, one of the nation’s most recognized school presenters on substance abuse prevention. DeLeon represents Steered Straight, a national organization dedicated to educating young people about drug prevention.
During the presentation, DeLeon will share his powerful personal journey—from substance abuse and incarceration to becoming a nationally respected advocate for youth. Through honest and engaging storytelling, he aims to help parents and community members better understand the real and often hidden dangers of modern drug use and vaping.
Steered Straight partners with schools across the country to provide impactful anti-drug and anti-vaping programs. Their presentations focus on prevention, awareness, and real-life consequences, giving audiences a firsthand perspective on how substance use affects individuals, families, and entire communities.
School officials say attendees will gain valuable insight into current youth trends, warning signs to look out for, and ways families can work together to support prevention efforts at home.
The event is free and open to all parents, guardians, and community members. Those interested in learning more about the presenting organization can visit steeredstraight.org.
